The Philadelphia semiconductor index is up 62.1% this year against 12.8% for the S&P 500, yet remains more than 20% below its 22 June record, so the sector is extended against the market without being at a peak. Microsoft has guided Azure growth of about 45% at constant currency, and Alphabet’s cloud revenue grew 82% in the second quarter. Cloud growth at or above those rates would support the case; a slowdown with spending still rising would undercut it.
