The evidence
Observed prices and times from market data Reported what named sources say Our read the desk's interpretation Desk note our method and record
ObservedThe Nasdaq Composite was at 26,438 at about 14:00 New York, up 1.03%, with the S&P 500 up 0.59% at 7,721.70 and the Dow up 0.11% at 52,419.01. AMD rose 4.6%, Dell 7.7% and Nebius 10.0%, and technology was up about 2% at midday.12
ReportedTheStreet reported that Anthropic agreed to pay SpaceX up to $120.5 billion for computing infrastructure through 2029, a day after Anthropic’s IPO filing disclosed about $430 billion of existing commitments. Reuters reported that Meta raised its equity offering to $97.5 billion to fund AI expansion, and that Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom have shown interest in investing up to $5 billion in total.234
Our readOur read is that the rally rests on evidence of committed spending, not sentiment alone. Each disclosure names a buyer and an amount, which addresses the question that hit the Nasdaq on 22 October: who pays for the build-out. Meta itself fell about 1% on the dilution from its share sale.24
ObservedBoeing fell about 10%, to its lowest since November 2025, after reporting a third-quarter loss of 26 cents a share against an expected 21 cents and cutting its full-year delivery target. That held the Dow to a small gain.2
Desk noteF-010, from Monday’s file on Anthropic’s filing, is decided at today’s close: it fails if the Nasdaq closes below 25,955.34, and at about 14:00 the index was 1.9% above that line. F-002 fails if the Nasdaq closes above 26,702.86 by Friday while Brent is above $108; the index is about 1% short.1
This is not a call on Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon or Apple results, which report this week and will test the spending case directly.
The chart
What would prove us wrong
Our read is that the rally rests on committed AI spending, not on lower oil or hopes for easier rates. If the Nasdaq closes below 25,800 on a day the 10-year yield closes below 5.10%, by 6 November, the demand evidence has not held and this file is wrong.
Nasdaq closes below 25,800, and on the same session US 10-year closes below 5.10%
